Palisa, Johann#
b. Opava, Czech Republic (then Troppau), Dec. 6, 1848, d. Vienna, May 2, 1925, astronomist. Discovered 120 planetoids. 1871 head of the navy obsevatory in Pola (Croatia), director of the Vienna Observatory. With M. Wolf compiled the Wolf-P.-celestial charts. Prize of the Paris Academy.
