Wielemans von Monteforte, Alexander#
b. Vienna, Feb. 4, 1843, d. Vienna, Oct. 7, 1911, architect of Late Historicism. Studied in Vienna; worked at the studio of F. von Schmidt until 1874. Won the contract for the building of the Vienna Law Courts in the same year; finished it in 1881; designed mainly court buildings (Graz, 1889-1893; Salzburg, 1903-1909), also religious buildings (parish church of Breitenfeld, Vienna, 1893-1898), residential buildings and villas (Villa Gutmann at Baden, 1882-1884). His second major project was the planning of the town hall in Graz (1887-1895 alterations in cooperation with T. Reuter); equally renowned for his sepulchral chapels (Vienna-Inzersdorf, Moedling, Frein in Upper Austria).
