Adoption#

Adoption: gives a child the legal status of a legitimate child. Adoption is subject to approval by the courts in Austria. Prerequisites for adoption are that the adoptive parents have to have the legal capacity to enter into contracts, the man has to be at least 30 years old, the woman at least 28. There also has to be a difference in age of at least 18 years between the adoptive parents and the adopted child. Parties involved can apply for a confidential adoption, which means that the adoptive parents' names and place of residence are kept secret.
