Edthofer, Anton#

b. Vienna, Sept. 18, 1883, d. Vienna, Feb. 25, 1971, actor, Kammerschauspieler, second husband of Helene Thimig; 1908-1920 performed at the Volkstheater in Vienna, 1921 began to work in film and collaborate with M. Reinhardt at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin; from 1923 also worked with R. Beer in Vienna; 1929-1971 at the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna; along with P. Wessely, E. was the first to be awarded the Max Reinhardt Ring (1949), a prize established and sponsored by the Theater in der Josefstadt.
