Fieberbrunn, Tirol, market town in the district of Kitzbuehel, alt. 790 m, pop. 460, area 76.30 km2, bi-seasonal tourist and health resort (466,681 overnight stays) situated in the valley of the Fieberbrunn stream near the Salzburg border. - Acupuncture, Austrian Medical Society for Neural Therapy (Therapeutic Local Anesthesia), curative springs (sulphur and iron), Lauchsee mud-baths, cableways to Streuboeden (alt. 1,204 m) and Laerchfilzkogel mountains (alt. 1,654 m). Mixed economic structure made up of the service sector (in particular hotel and catering) and manufacturing: production of orthopedic shoes, soft toys, chemical-pharmaceutical plant, timber processing, metal works, forge; central distribution centre for orthopedic sandals, magnesite mining (Buergl mine 1959-1972, Weissenstein mine since 1972), smelting shop in neighbouring municipality Hochfilzen; Veitsch-Radex GmbH). - From the 16th until the 19th century F. boasted a significant iron ore mining industry; parish church (1689, 1854/1855 and 1954/1955 enlarged and reconstructed, renovated in 1984), Alt-Rosenegg Castle (1553, former seat of aristocratic mine owners, today hotel), Neu-Rosenegg Castle (1634, now hotel); "Fieberbrunnen" fountain with a commemorative statue to Margarete Maultasch, who, according to legend, was cured here.
