Forster, Rudolf#
Forster, Rudolf, b. Groebming (Styria), Oct. 30, 1884, d. Bad Aussee (Styria), Oct. 25, 1968, (film) actor. From 1907 performed on stages in Vienna (Jarno stages, Theater in der Josefstadt, Volksbuehne Wien), at the Staatstheater Berlin (1920-1932), and at the theatres directed by Reinhardt and Barnowsky in Berlin and Vienna. From 1920 also played in films and lived in the USA from 1937-1940, where he acted in Hollywood films and performed on Broadway stages. From 1947-1950 a member of the Burgtheater company in Vienna, where he played above all Strindberg roles.
