b. Hroznetin, Czech Republic (then Lichtenstadt), b. Jan. 8, 1870, d. Vienna, July 10, 1947, pharmacologist. Professor at the University of Vienna, specialist in eye and ear diseases. Army sanitarian, 1915 head medical officer, 1926 professor of pharmacognosy at the University of Vienna. Developed methods for analysing mineral water; he and O. Haempel developed a pregnancy test and a test for determing the human gender (G.-Haempelscher Fischtest).
