Kassowitz, Max#
Kassowitz, Max, b. Bratislava, Slovakia (then Pressburg), Aug. 14, 1842, d. Vienna, June 23, 1913, pediatrician. From 1881 director of the first public child health care institution in Vienna. From 1891 university professor; his main areas of interest were hereditary syphilis, rachitis and diseases of the teeth. He and his wife Emilie K. (1854-1938) were active in the teetotallers´ movement.
