Audiovisual Teaching Aids: technological teaching materials. For schools which cater for age groups covered by compulsory schooling (primary and lower secondary schools) audiovisual teaching aids are supplied by audiovisual centres within the remit of the district school councils, and the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) ran special school programmes for many decades. Other schools, adult education institutions and the Wirtschaftsfoerderungsinstitut (Institute of Economic Development - WIFI) operate language laboratories.
