Brettauer, Josef#

b. Ancona (Italy), Dec. 8, 1835, d. Trieste (Italy), July 11, 1905, numismatologist, ophthalmologist. His collection of medical coins and medals ("Medicina in nummis") was one of the largest private collection of its kind; until 1988 at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, today stored at the Vienna University Institute of Numismatics.
