Löwy, Josef#
b. Bratislava, Slovakia (then Pressburg), Aug. 16, 1834, d. Vienna, March 24, 1902, painter and photographer. Studied at the Vienna Academy, owned a photographer's studio in Vienna and experimented with phototypography from 1872 onwards, founded an atelier for industrial photography, at the beginning of the 1880s he also produced heliogravures. As Imperial court photographer he made numerous pictures of the nobility, further themes were nudes, works of art and architecture.
