Unger, Joseph#
Unger, Joseph, b. Vienna, July 2, 1828, d. Vienna, May 2, 1913. Law scholar, politician, founder of the "Historical School of Austrian Civil Law Studies" as a history-based philosophical antithesis to positivist jurisprudence. In 1853 he became University Professor for Civil Law in Prague, then in Vienna; as German liberal politician became member of the Upper Chamber of the Reichsrat. From 1871 to 79 Minister without Portfolio, 1881 to 1913 President of the Reichsgericht court.
