Teyber, Franz, b. Vienna, Aug. 25, 1758, d. Vienna. Oct. 21/22, 1810, kapellmeister, composer and singer (bass); Son of Matthaeus Teyber; brother of Elisabeth Teyber, Anton Teyber and Therese Teyber. As conductor of the "Schikaneder Wandertheater" F. T. made the acquaintance of W. A. Mozart in 1786; later he was composer and musical director at the Theater an der Wien, which was inaugurated with his opera "Alexander" in 1801; from 1807 at the Theater in der Leopoldstadt; 1810 court organist.
