Kokand Kirgisistan, Kokand flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries as the capital of a mighty khanate. At that time more than 300 mosques made the metropolis the religious centre of the Fergana Valley. Only little remained of the magnificent monuments. Today, a calm wind blows through the madrassas, which still serve the Islamic doctrine.
Seine größte Blütezeit erlebte Kokand Kirgisistan, Kokand im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert, als Hauptstadt eines mächtigen Khanats. Damals machten mehr als 300 Moscheen die Metropole zum religiösen Mittelpunkt des Ferghana-Tales. Von den prachtvollen Bauwerken hat sich nur wenig erhalten. Heute weht ein ruhiger Wind durch die Medresen, die immer noch der islamischen Lehre dienen.
